[Bug 457037] New: libata issues Promise FastTrack ATA100 Controller ( pdc202xx_old)
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Sat, 6 Dec 2008 05:10:43 -0700 (MST)
- Message-id: <bug-457037-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457037
Summary: libata issues Promise FastTrack ATA100 Controller
(pdc202xx_old)
Product: openSUSE 11.1
Version: RC 1
Platform: x86
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: rob.opensuse.linux@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
libata issues with old Promise ATA controllers are still outstanding. This
caused my install to fail, and may prevent upgrade altogether if there's not a
workable pdc202xx_old module.
See Old Bugs for background information :
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335505 (RESOLVED WONTFIX as
upstream bug)
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9337 (Appears to have no progress)
The work round of passing brokenmodules=pata_pdc202xx_old as a boot parameter,
does not work with install boot image CD.
Attempting a test install using a disk on Promise controller, failed, because
of the disk error (from SCIS layer) preventing alteration of the LVM stuff.
The legacy PATA drivers eg) pdc202xx_old are required, and usage of /dev/hdX
device rather than /dev/sdX routing around libata for these controllers.
