https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457037 Summary: libata issues Promise FastTrack ATA100 Controller (pdc202xx_old) Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rob.opensuse.linux@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- libata issues with old Promise ATA controllers are still outstanding. This caused my install to fail, and may prevent upgrade altogether if there's not a workable pdc202xx_old module. See Old Bugs for background information : https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335505 (RESOLVED WONTFIX as upstream bug) http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9337 (Appears to have no progress) The work round of passing brokenmodules=pata_pdc202xx_old as a boot parameter, does not work with install boot image CD. Attempting a test install using a disk on Promise controller, failed, because of the disk error (from SCIS layer) preventing alteration of the LVM stuff. The legacy PATA drivers eg) pdc202xx_old are required, and usage of /dev/hdX device rather than /dev/sdX routing around libata for these controllers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
