PATA device fails to be recognized on 11.1 RC-1 LIVE CD and installed system
(Installed via Net install).
Live CD hangs as follows:
I have a perfectly good Live CD. (md5sum checks out) but The LIVE CD hangs
with...
Waiting for CD/DVD drive to apper...
Waiting for USB devices to settle...
Failed to detect CD/DVD or USB drive!
reboot exception error consoles at Alt-F3/F4
rebbot exception: reboot in 120 seconds.
The Fkeys do not work.
I am running an AMD5200 dual-core chip It has only 4 Sata connectors and 8 USB
ports..Standard SB600. OpenSuse 11.0 Live-CD worked fine. This is not exactly
new hardware.
My CD/DVD drive is not being recognized while testing 11.1 RC-1. I have
a Lite-on CD/DVD LightScribe model. This is a PATA device installed as /dev/hb
and placed on the PATA connecter of the SB600 setup...essentially the kernel is
not recognizing the CD/DVD drive. This is a Gigabyte model GA-MA790X-DS4 model
with an SB600. Has the driver changed in the new Kernel??Once the system is
installed it appears PATA devices are not recognized on the SB600.
The new driver (pata_atiixp) is seeing no device condition on IDENTIFY
execution.
