Not sure if this is related but I have a Dell Latitude D505 laptop with the 855
GM chipset and using RC1 and the GNOME live CD it boots up to a completely
black desktop except for the mouse cursor which is visible and works fine.
Hitting CTRL+ALT+backspace twice restarts X and takes you to the GDM login
screen which appears to be functioning just fine, no glitches. As soon as you
try logging in, you're once again presented with a black screen.
I also tested Fedora core 10 while it was still in rawhide on this same laptop
and there were many bug reports against the Xorg intel driver with this
particular chipset. I got rid of Fedora before the final release of FC10 so I'm
not sure what they ended up doing with it.
