I don't get the sound output when I try to play /usr/share/sounds/alsa/testwav
for example _but_ I also don't get any error.

No error from the application nor from the kernel (/var/log/messages, dmesg).

The aplay command as mentioned in comment #3 doesn't return and stays endless
in state "SL+".

Sound output works as soon as I call alsaconf again.  But only till the next
reboot or suspend/ resume.
