I donloaded, compiled and installed the latest alsa driver (1.0.18a from Nov.
12.) but the effect is the same.
Let me mention again that the sound stuff works perfectly out-of-box with
Ubuntu 8.04.1, which probably contains a way older alsa driver (it might be
1.0.12 or even 1.0.8) and a way older kernel (maybe 2.6.24).
