The KDE problem is likely irrelevant. Please avoid to mix things up in a
single bug report.
As mentioned, the problem could be already fixed in the latest ALSA driver
code, but I didn't put it to 2.6.28 kernel material (note that SUSE11.1 kernel
has backport patches from 2.6.28-rc) because it wasn't obvious. So, please try
to build the latest alsa-driver snapshot, and check whether it works.
Don't forget to turn off "Headphone as Line Out" switch, BTW.
