I have the same experience with my Dell Studio 1535 laptop. Referring to
Comment #2 I happily blame Dell for the wrong BIOS, but it it does not solve
the problem, and on the other hand the sound with Ubuntu 8.04.1 work perfectly
out-of-box. It means that the problem is solvable from the Linux side somehow.
Unfortunately I replaced Ubuntu with openSUSE 11.1 beta 5 since then, so I
can't send Ubuntu configs. I may reinstall Ubuntu again and send any
information that can help.
