The default is half of your physical RAM without swap. If you oversize your tmpfs instances the machine will deadlock since the OOM handler will not be able to free that memory. ---snap---- so this looks like what you want. kiwi uses a tmpfs for the modes "compressed" and "unified". Only if you don't specify a flag="..." in your config.xml the old ( depreciated ) ramdisk system is used. In that case the rd module is loaded with a fixed ramdisk_size of 512MB So could you tell me more details of your config.xml ?
