Fixed in openSUSE 11.1 beta 4!
If I plug my usb stick before the installer is loaded, I still get an "error" :
"You've passed an undefined mode number. Press <space> to continue or <F6> to
selecta mode" or something like that.
(Note : The mode number is 314.)
I press <space> to continue.
and now the installer (YaST) is booting normally!
So the YaST bug is fixed but it seems there is a kind of kernel bug behind but
this is not a blocker bug. I will open another bug only related to the mode
number error.
