There is also another possibility ... if quemu is really so slow, is it
possible to leave it alone and wait what happens in, let's say 10 or 15
minutes? Writing the bootloader takes quite some time even on a very fast
machine...
PS, you can usually switch to the console (Alt + F2) and check the running
processes (ps, top, strace, gdb ...). I'm afraid the attached YaST log doesn't
say anything useful:
Y2SystemFunction.cc(useRemote):129 'initializeBootloader': switched to remote
Y2StdioFunction.cc(evaluateCall):137 Evaluating remote call to
'Bootloader_API::initializeBootloader'
See for instance...

2008-11-06 04:47:37 clients/fonts_finish.ycp:64 fonts_finish finished
It takes 11 minutes to proceed with `/sbin/SuSEconfig --module fonts` (that's
the only thing the script actually does).
Mike, please, check whether it's caused by qemu being deadly slow or whether it
really hangs. Doing an ssh installation might help (does it work with quemu) as
someone else can log into the system later and check it.
