Having a look at "Installation Summary" (in the package selector) should show
you that information. You can even filter only for deleted packages there
(there is a checkbox for every package status).

And if you find packages there that you'd rather keep, change their status to
"protected" (not "taboo", that's the opposite).

What happened to that "delete old unavailable packages" toggle I don't know.
