I have exactly the same problem with stable from today.

1.) I tried the suspend package from beta2 (comment #16).
-> same result, oops while reading the image

2.) I installed and tested a kernel-default (not pae)
-> works fine !!

3.) Using the pae kernel I tried in runlevel 3 'echo disk > /sys/power/state'
-> this results in a kernel oops (screenshots will follow soon)

4.) same test as 3) but this time with kernel-default
-> works fine
