Dell Precision 490 with dual core CPU --> reboot problems. # hwinfo --cpu | egrep "Model" Model: 6.15.11 "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5140 @ 2.33GHz" Model: 6.15.11 "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5140 @ 2.33GHz" Dell Precision 490 with quad core CPU --> fine # hwinfo --cpu | grep Model Model: 15.6.4 "Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz" Model: 15.6.4 "Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz" Model: 15.6.4 "Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz" Model: 15.6.4 "Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz" Kernel: # uname -a Linux adnws148 2.6.25.18-0.2-default #1 SMP 2008-10-21 16:30:26 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux With 32bit openSUSE 11.0 on the dual core machines, the system does not automatically power cycle when one enters "reboot" or "shutdown -r now". It terminates all processes and then halts at "Please stand by while rebooting the system ..." one has to press the power button manually. This causes a problem during the Autoyast installation where we need to boot the system several times. With openSUSE 11.0 x86_64 the power cycle works, so it worked with Suse Linux 10.1 i386, too. On the quad core CPUs machines we also have no problems. Maybe some bug has got in this kernel. Workaround is to add "reboot=b" to the kernel parameters in /boot/grub/menu.lst. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/220820 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
