I suspects the following components causing the problems,
1. gdm
contributes > 10s,
in /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow, there contains eight gnome
applications, which will be launched by gdm on login window.
The problem here is that the gdm login window will launch nearly a entire
gnome session, which contributes several seconds to gdm start. And when normal
user login, all gnome apps belongs to gdm user first will quit, while the login
user's gnome-session will wait for the eights programs of user gdm quiting,
after that the login user's gnome-session will starts. This process will
greatly slow down the user login.
After remove all apps excepts gdm-simple-greeter.desktop, the gdm start reduces
< 7s, login process reduces to near 12s.
The gdm GUI will become ugly, maybe some modification on gtkrc will be helpful.
(Note: with the following packages removed.)
2. pulse audio
contributes nearly 12s to login process.
using zypper to remove all pulse audio, which will auto install
esound-daemon, reduces 12s.
3. compiz
contributes nearly 8s to login process.
using zypper to remove all compiz package, reduces 8s.
PS: The differences from a blank installation, just for your information, not
important. the hp-systray in gnome-session using libqt4, so I just disable it
for not loading libqt4.
And also remove system-config-printer, which is from fedora, there already has
yast2 printer.
