(In reply to comment #6 from Norbert Klein)
I added another user and it's the same.
After that X didn't start properly any more, the mouse appears bot nothing
else, tty1 has many lines like these:

gdm-simple-slave WARNING: Unable to connect to displys :5
DEBUG: GdmSlave: Server is ready -opening display :5

It tries several displays and then gives up.
Also in fail-safe mode I don't get the login screen.

Hrm, that sounds like issues with gdm with fast-user-switching. I hope it at
least works again after a reboot.

Looking at the errors, it looks as if you don't have any more memory?

Eg:

`/usr/lib64/gnome-panel/libnotification-area-applet.so: failed to map segment
from shared object: Cannot allocate memory'
or

error : Memory allocation failed : creating buffer

or

***MEMORY-ERROR***: gnome-panel[3410]: GSlice: failed to allocate 4080 bytes
(alignment: 4096): Cannot allocate memory

So, hrm, this sounds quite bad, but if it's the issue, then it's not a GNOME
issue. How much memory do you have? You can use the "free" command in a
terminal.
