Interesting - plugged an external USB 3 button mouse to check that out too.
To home in more on the behavior; it seems that button-2 can get through, but
only when there is a rapid click/release, or better a double-click.
Unfortunately, it seems there is no event propagated when you just click and
hold button 2; and worse click / hold-for-one-second / release - yields simply
no event ;-) hence the problem with the xterm context menu I guess.
