I removed the ~/.config/compiz folder again, and this time did a `kill -9` on
all Metacity / Compiz related processes.  Once I did that, everything started
to work, so maybe it rewrote the settings if Compiz was still running in the
back ground the first time or something.  Anyway, I'm closing this bug.
