Rodrigo, different things happen when enabling Desktop Effects from the System
menu and running compiz-manager from Terminal, so if Desktop Effects just runs
it too, it must use some options.
The memory check is done by compiz-manager yes but I ask why is it necessary?
On my GeForce 2 with 32MB VRAM (admittedly old card), compiz still works, so
the check for 64MB requirement is too high. (Or is this a different bug?)
Either way, I think compiz-manager should tell the user what went wrong in a
dialog, like "You need at least X MB video memory if using an NVIDIA card" or
"You need to use 24 or 16 bit color mode not 15 for compiz", etc etc.
(Different bug too?)
