Enabling 3D works now. SaX2 writes 'Load "dri"'. 

I couldn't test if you can disable 3D, since SaX2 always regenerates xorg.conf
("... your current configuration will not be read in", although I started it as
a normal user in a usual session without doing su before!) and the default is
still to disable 3D. So at least the default to 3D disabled is still an issue
here.
