Just now, i found a workaround for the issue by manualy adding some config
changes described in
/usr/share/doc/packages/pilot-link/README.libusb:
"... Put the 60-libpisock.rules file that came with your
pilot-link release in '/etc/udev/rules.d/' and restart
udev."
(there is no such file provided in pilot-link-0.12.2-112.1.i586.rpm so i
downloaded it from http://cvs.pilot-link.org/doc/ and copied it to
/etc/udev/rules.d/)
"... add the two words 'blacklist visor' (without
quotes) to a new file called:
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-palm
If that file doesn't exist, create it and put the
one-line entry into it."
(file did not exist, I created it, rebooted and pilot-xfer --port usb: --backup
again worked as well as before the last global update/upgrade.
Keep in mind, this is a manual workaround, not a solution to the problem, which
I think is connected to pilot-link-0.12.2-112.1.i586.rpm and/or depending
packages. Therefore I leave it to the assignee of this bug to close it, after a
true solution is here.
Cheers,
Werner
