What does "flaky" mean for you? You did not report any description of your
issues, including backtraces or how to reproduce them.
Maybe your cd-drive is the problem, since, as the commenter before stated
already, there is nothing unstable about the released versions of k3b. (I
assume you mean k3b and not kb3) Even Gnome users use k3b, which I think tells
a lot about its quality.
