https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=421936 Summary: pwdutils: passwd slowness ... Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmeeks@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Running 'passwd' as root in a kvm/qemu virtual environment takes forever for some strange reason. If I run passwd, and set a pwd of "123hqztry" - ie. not based on an obvious dictionary word, fairly strong, some numbers - then passwd goes away for a *15 second* delay - before prompting me to re-enter that. That seems excessive. The strace shows it running over cracklib's pw_dict lots and lots of times, apparently re-reading in the same thing each time ;-) is it really doing anything that useful for so long ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
