Could you clarify the meaning of the processor ID values (0x0d vs. 0x60/0x61)?

Also, I was still hoping you could provide info on why the machine simply halts
rather than rasing a machine check exception (in which case further information
could be available, as the OS is reading the respective MSRs).

Finally, do you see any way this behavior could be triggered by other than a
hardware problem?
