One PC is just a file server and print server. No matter what the demands for files are the kernel will not allocate more available RAM to cache, hot fix, turbot FAT, etc etc etc. You will get the same performance from a PC with 1 GIG of RAM that you get with 2 GIG of RAM. The kernel refuses to make better use of more available physical RAM which is largely useless. If there is extra available RAM - use it to increase performance - please dont let it just sit there never being used. The Kernel using a low amount of available RAM use is wonderful and faultless, how about now taking advantage of more RAM if present to increase performance. Most of the work has already been done in Netware - the functional additions of Netware's use of memory management to increase file serving aspects can not be that difficult to translate in, if nothing but concepts. The Kernel also appears to never use more RAM despite that number of application that are running - The Processing aspect of the CPU appears never to be assisted in using extra RAM. Surely we have the ability to address more and more RAM to provide CPU Caching and load more and more instructions into RAM than we currently do NOT do. See Initial Bug for Screen Shots and please clarify the status of the original BUG - It should be changed from Enhancement to a High Priority BUG! The current Kernel what appears never to use more RAM resources under any circumstances surely is a problem/bug Currently there is No advantage to anyone putting more than 1 GIG RAM into a PC as it is never used. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
