https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=418711 Summary: Request for new project ScientificLinux Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: OBS Request AssignedTo: adrian@novell.com ReportedBy: urs.beyerle@env.ethz.ch QAContact: adrian@novell.com Found By: --- Hi, I'm one of the developers of Scientific Linux (https://www.scientificlinux.org). Scientific Linux (SL) is like CentOS rebuilt from RHEL sources. I would like to create a new project on build.opensuse.org with the name "ScientificLinux". Gaols, aims, ideas: - The project will mainly provide (scientific) software for Scientific Linux, CentOS and RHEL. - I have to administrate systems with RHEL, CentOS, Scientific Linux, SLE, openSUSE. And I would like to have on all systems the same version of the software. Therefore the packages has to compile also on SLE and openSUSE. - The goal is to take most of the packages from the project openSUSE:Factory and including packages from other projects like Application:Geo, Education:desktop, science. - If possible, only the spec files should be patched in order to work on RHEL and Fedora. - These patches can possibly go back to their original projects. - If a package is not available on build.opensuse.org, SRPMs will be written from scratch or SRPMs will be taken from RHEL based repositories, like DAG, EPEL, etc. - Scientific Linux RPMs (not RHEL based) should be ported to build.opensuse.org. I have already started with some packages to get used to the build.opensuse.org framework, see https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=home%3Abeyerle What do you think about ScientificLinux project? Right name? Right place? Cheers, Urs -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
