Hi,
A rather peculiar problem and couldn't put a proper summary above. I have a
Thinkpad R61 and running Opensuse 11.0, KDE 3.5.9 with all the latest updates
applied. This is regarding KNetworkmanager and the icon at the bottom, the
green blob.

I perform the following steps to replicate my problem:-

1. Keep the ethernet cable jacked in. You will notice that the grey blob now
turns into a small whitish ethernet like jack, indicating that the network is
connected, all is good.

2. Now restart X, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and login again

3. All this time the ethernet cable is kept jacked in

4. After login, the icon is a green blob, instead of the ethernet jack that I
noticed in step 1.

5. There is little way of knowing, other than looking carefully and noticing
that it is a green blob instead of a grey one (when no network is connected)

6. This is observed for the wireless connection too.

-Anshul
