When my link is saturated, I lose my connection to GWIM.

Partial steps to reproduce:

1) Start pidgin, connect to gwim

2) Run "zypper dup" [This is a common command that saturates my internet
connection.]

3) Get disconnected rapidly.  Note that other protocols (aim, msn, jabber) stay
connected.
