Under what user are you running hwclock?
hwclock uses cli/sti for atomic access for the cmos method, this needs root
permissions. And we do not install hwclock as SUID binary as default.
Not sure, if we want to do this, as hwclock normally runs fine with /dev/rtc
access. I am wondering why hwclock uses cmos method instead of /dev/rtc here.
Does this only happen under qemu?
