Unfortunately, the API of libav*/ffmpeg shared libraries is rather unstable
between releases, and the API can be configured at compile time to diverge
quite a lot from one build to another. The most prominent example of this is
whether libav* should use swscale or not.
The applications and libs that use libav* (xine, k3b, MPlayer, gstreamer, ...)
are written to use one or another form of them and hence, we cannot have all of
them use a single version of those.
In the Packman repository, we usually try to patch source to have them use the
shlibs and API from the libffmpeg0 package, but when it isn't possible, we
build them with their own in-tree copy of libav*.
