Small update:

I have exposed the problem to Ludovic Rousseau (pcsc-lite), and he also told me
that he thinks it's a bug in the ACR38 driver (and he adviced me to use another
card reader, which is frustrating as this card reader is the most sold one in
Belgium for beID applications, and seems ok for most Windows users and even
some Linux users, from what I read from the Web).

(Note: the contact email for Edward Cheung (from ACS) is no more valid.)

I tried again to run the pcscd daemon in the foreground, with the --debug log
level, but it does not give much more info.

Linux1:/home/amigaphil # pcscd -f --debug
00000000 pcscdaemon.c:275:main() pcscd set to foreground with debug send to
stderr
00000153 debuglog.c:239:DebugLogSetLevel() debug level=debug
00001988 pcscdaemon.c:493:main() pcsc-lite 1.4.100 daemon ready.

Is there something else I can try to narrow down the bug (?) origin ?
