Hello, sorry for my late reply. I have attached logs which detail what happened
when I last used the standby function in oS 10.2. Some script checked for
services to stop, then modules to unload and then machine entered ACPI S1
state. I this state CPU is stopped and some motherboard devices enter power
save mode (e.g. USB, FireWire, LAN, I think). Also probably GPU is stopped
also, display goes power off. I cannot remember whether hard disk is also spun
down.
The important information I have not mention yet, I use standby function with
a desktop PC, not with a laptop. I use a laptop and two desktops with Gigabyte
motherboards. The laptop supports suspend to ram, not standby and the desktops
have only standby. I don't know but have thought that most desktops support
standby.
