I think this bug is solved for me now, however I'm just going to include some
more information for completeness' sake.
Okay, I re-installed OpenSUSE 11 and this time, a number of devices show up in
/dev/ directory. Not sure if it is the re-installation that fixed it, or if it
was because of something else I did... There also was a kernel update in
OpenSUSE Updater I applied. Anyway, the drives show under /dev/ now.
However, those do not show up as drives in KDE desktop or file managers after
boot. But inserting the disc again, it DOES get detected by KDE.
I have 4 entries now:
/dev/dvd
/dev/dvd1
/dev/dvdrw
/dev/dvdrw1
I can manually mount them. Behavior is a little strange, but like I said that's
probably a KDE issue.
I suppose bug can be changed (closed?) now.
