--- Comment #4 from Harald Dunkel 2008-07-17 07:50:54 MDT ---
In the meantime I did more tests. I get a working NetworkManager setup in
Ubuntu (Gnome) using
network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5
network-manager-gnome 0.6.6-0ubuntu3
network-manager-openvpn 0.3.2svn2342-1ubuntu4
(These are the most recent packages for Ubuntu 8.04. The upstream sources plus
Ubuntu's patches can be found in http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main .)
Next step was to add KDE to the Ubuntu host, and to enter a KDE session: There
was no passphrase dialog, as for Suse, but just a progress bar stuck at 80%,
and then an error popup saying "VPN Connect Failure". The package in this case
was
network-manager-kde 1:0.2.2-1ubuntu2
If I try NetworkManager on Suse's Gnome, then the VPN connection I had
configured in KDE is not available. I have to click on NetworkManager -> VPN
Connections --> Configure VPN... The VPN Connections window comes up (without
any entries), and on top of it I get an error popup saying
Cannot add VPN connection
No suitable VPN software was found on
your system. Contact your system
administrator.
If I click on [Close], then both windows are gone.
