I didn't have the Packman xine packages (I guess I had them from VideoLAN or
some such?). So I installed the Packman xine packages and then configured it to
use PA (btw, I think the correct config option was audio.driver:pulseaudio).
With that, I got errors from pulseaudio saying couldn't connect to device (in
the console). Trying to play a DVD in Xine failed to have any audio, but on the
plus side pidgin could play its chimes whenever I got an IM ;-)
I tried the esd option as well, but that didn't work. I can't remember why not.
The only way I could get Xine to play audio was by configuring it to use the
alsa driver again :(
