Forget about having two different options in YaST. But about the default
behavior... I see a real problem in different interfaces having different
behavior. I was "utterly confused" about opensuse-updater reporting updates
while zypper didn't.
Since I want all my packages to be updated, not only patches, right now I
*must* use zypper. I can still use YaST to install new packages... but
opensuse-updater is totally unusefull. Since I will end using "zypper up -t
packages" use opensuse-updater only for patches doesn't makes much sense, and
neither I can use it to update all packages since what it wants to update is
wrong (I set repo priorities for a cause).
I didn't fully understand the problem from the first paragraph. But that
problem affect *both* YaST and updater applet? If not in YaST, I would like it
at least in the applet. Without a fix for me the applet is just something to
remove from startup... and I must do update checks manually periodically.
