Summary: open-vm-tools package installed with vmware-kmp-default
causes vmware-guest to error
Product: openSUSE 11.0
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: trampus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Found By: ---

running /etc/init.d/vmware-guest restart will cause the following errors if the
vmware-kmp-default package is not installed.

promb-2n-dhcp252:~ # /etc/init.d/vmware-guest restart
Shutting down vmware-guest umount: /proc/fs/vmblock/mountPoint: not found
FATAL: Module vmblock not found.
FATAL: Module vmsync not found.
FATAL: Module vmmemctl not found.
failed
Starting vmware-guestd FATAL: Module vmblock not found.
mount: mount point /proc/fs/vmblock/mountPoint does not exist
FATAL: Module vmmemctl not found.
FATAL: Module vmsync not found.
Warning: vmware-user failed to initialize blocking driver.

It seems like making the open-vm-tools package require vmware-kmp-default
package would be a good idea. It will make all the scary "FATAL" errors go
away.
