https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=402518 Summary: 11.0 kernel has frame pointers enabled even though it doesn't need it Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andi-nbz@firstfloor.org QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: jbeulich@novell.com Found By: --- The 11.0 x86-64 has CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER enabled. I think that's because you enabled LATENCYTOP which unfortunately has a select FRAME_POINTER [imho that's a mainline bug, but that's a different story] But the 11.0 kernelcontains Jan's dwarf2 unwinder so it can always give reliable backtraces even without frame pointer. FRAME POINTER generate significantly worse code. I would suggest to remove the select FRAME_POINTER in latencytop and disable FRAME_POINTER in a update. It's really wasteful this way. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
