https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=402353 Summary: The Samsung SyncMaster 225BW monitor requires xorg.conf to be edited before it works. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: kte608@mail.usask.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I am not a master of xorg.conf or of SaX2 No options were found that allowed this monitor to operate in 1680x1050 mode. To make this monitor work I had to manually edit a text file which is not very nice. Although SaX2 claimed that the monitor was in 1680x1050 mode it really was in 1400xsomething mode as given by the button menu on the front of the monitor itself. In all the 1680x1050 modes given by SaX2 the display was terribly wobbly and strange. Therefore I modified the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file's "Monitor" section to read: Section "Monitor" DisplaySize 474 296 HorizSync 30-81 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER 225BW" Option "DPMS" VendorName "SAM" VertRefresh 56-75 Modeline "1680x1050" 146.2 1680 1784 1960 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 EndSection Rebooting the computer with this change allowed the monitor to work perfectly. This knowledge could be used to make SaX2 produce a proper setup for the syncmaster 225BW. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
