I'm afraid the initial comment doesn't contain enough information.

Your display has 1400x1050 pixes, OK.
Which resolution was used during the first stage installation?

What do you mean by the first restart? When the first stage installation was
done and system restarted/called kexec to continue with the second stage
(configuration of the installed system)?

Did the second stage start in textmode instead of Qt/GTK Graphical User
Interface?
