The Qt package / patch selector uses XPM icons that are compiled into the
sources. The rationale is to avoid the application becoming unusable because
for whatever reason external icons are not available. In that case, there would
be no status icons at all. This would lock out 99% of all users.
If you'd like to have another icon set, it's not a big deal to replace them in
the icon directory in the sources and recompile that package. You can find the
icons at
http://svn.opensuse.org/svn/yast/trunk/qt-pkg/src/icons
You'd need to recompile the yast2-qt-pkg package.
Bottom line: Not a good idea for the great majority of users, but configurable
enough for users who really want it.
