The issue is that gtk2-devel-2.12.0-5.8 still has a reference to libpcre.la

I stumbled over it while building a package in OBS.
It built for all repos except openSUSE_10.3_Update, where libpcre.la was
missing.

The line 
> dependency_libs=' /usr/lib/libgmodule-2.0.la -ldl /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.la 
> /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.la /usr/lib/libpcre.la -lm'

figures in the updated gtk2-devel packages... and that is the problem IMO
