In yast2 runlevel, under the Expert Mode settings, haldaemon is not running.
If I try to start the daemon, I get the message:
/etc/init.d/haldaemon start returned 7 (program is not running)

/var/log/messages shows:
Jun  9 12:15:41 kelem-home startproc: startproc:  exit status of parent of
/usr/sbin/hald: 1

1. I think I need to get hald to run. How do I get haldaemon to run?
2. What can I do to track down the problem?

I'm running open SuSE 11.0 beta 3 on a dual dual 64-bit opteron system (tyan
s2895 motherboard).
