The log indicates that KNetworkManager is behaving correctly. In both cases,
the succeeded attempt and the failed attempt, KNetworkManager sends the same
data to NeworkManager.

Are you sure nm-applet is behaving better?
Could you please attach /var/log/NetworkManager after a successful connection
with KNetworkManager and again after a successful connection with nm-applet?
