https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=398450 Summary: OpenOffice problems with CIFS mounted network folders Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de ReportedBy: jfrantzius@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- When using OpenOffice on files on a cifs-mounted network folder, an error occurs on saving a file saying that a backup copy could not be created. The network shares are OK, the error does not occur when working with different distros that did not replace smbfs in favor of cifs. The symptoms are similar to http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=65002 Telling from the comments in the openoffice-bug, it seems that turning off "oplocks" on the samba-server helps. I haven't tried that, but the underlying bug with cifs might have to do with oplocks handling. Of course oplocks are turned on by default in samba servers, so a lot of people are likely to be affected. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
