Not really. It is the system restriction. Most hardwares have actually *no*
restriction at all, but in practice, there are certain by the system. The
restriction introduced by dmix belongs to such one.
Nevertheless, the period size 128 is definitely a bad choice. This would never
work reliably on systems with normal kernels.
So, if period size 1024 doesn't work, then it's a matter of application. The
system never guarantees which resource is available.
