I'm not sure that this is the same thing so I'm going to log a seperate bug
but...... when I use the snd_hda_intel module with the multi channel card that
came with my ASUS P5E on opensuse 11 KDE3.5 opening up the mixer window and
adjusting the master volume after adjusting the headphone volume always gets my
sound back.  If I adjust headphone volume it instantly turns off until I adjust
the master volume again.  Not sure if it helps but thought I'd throw it out
there.
