https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=397523 Summary: mmapped access with alsa doesn't work anymore Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: rkvinge@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Repro: compile the attached sample: gcc pulse-audio-alsa.c -o pulse-audio-alsa -I/usr/include/alsa -lasound /pulse-audio-alsa Result: gcc pulse-audio-alsa.c -o pulse-audio-alsa -I/usr/include/alsa -lasound /pulse-audio-alsa AudioNode::SetupHW (): hw configurations: ACCESS: RW_INTERLEAVED FORMAT: U8 S16_LE S16_BE FLOAT_LE FLOAT_BE MU_LAW A_LAW SUBFORMAT: STD SAMPLE_BITS: [8 32] FRAME_BITS: [8 1024] CHANNELS: [1 32] RATE: [8000 48000] PERIOD_TIME: (41 131072000] PERIOD_SIZE: [2 1048576] PERIOD_BYTES: [256 1048576] PERIODS: [2 1024] BUFFER_TIME: (83 524288000] BUFFER_SIZE: [4 4194304] BUFFER_BYTES: [512 4194304] TICK_TIME: ALL AudioNode::SetupHW (): Audio HW setup failed (access type not available for playback): Invalid argument In OpenSuse 10.3 mmapped access worked (can't paste exact output, given that I don't have 10.3 installed anymore). I installed OpenSuse 11B3 from DVD and updated to factory (zypper dup) today (I don't know if earlier versions of 11 has the same problem, Geoff Norton says it worked with B1 and B2 at least). This is preventing all sound from working with Moonlight.
