https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=397183 Summary: NetworkManager does not priortize connections Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mglenn@cco.state.oh.us QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Hardware: IBM R40 Desktop: Gnome Scenario: Laptop has two NICs: One wired, the other wireless. The wireless is connected to the local WLAN at 11 Mbps via WEP. The wired NIC is connected to the same network segment at 100 Mbps. Result: NetworkManager uses the wireless link instead of the faster, more secure wired link. Why this is bad: First, it is less secure. Second, NetworkManager is ignoring a path with ten times the bandwidth, with little indication of it doing so. If a user is transferring data, the expectation is that NetworkManager will use the superior route without being explicitly told to do so. Any way we can fix this?
