Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sitsofe@yahoo.com QAContact: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Description of the problem: A user here found all terminals refusing to accept new keyboard input and the machine locking up shortly after turning on their monitor (which provides USB and cardflash interfaces). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Turn monitor (which provides USB ports) on? Expected result: Computer to continue running normally. Actual result: Error message in the logs and then progressive failure towards a lockup (a sysrq reboot still worked but the computer would not show any prompts at terminals or over ssh). Rare (yet to be reproduced). Additional information: Normally I wouldn't report this type of issue but since it happened so rarely (and yet the monitor has been turned on regularly for over a month) I thought I had better try... The machine is a Dell Precision WorkStation 690.
