Yes, I have installed openSuSE 11.0 KDE RC1 on the harddisk of the notebook.
There is a workaround to bypass the black screen problem of the LiveCD:
1) Force the system to console mode using textmode bootoption and boot
parameter init 3
2) start sax2 with the option '-m0=vesa'
This allows me to configure a useable screen mode (1024x768, 16bit)
3) switch run level 3 to run level 5
4) kde starts up
5) install the LiveSystem to harddisk
6) after restart of computer yast2 starts up, but there is just a black screen
again
7) Switch back to console mode using CTRL+SHIFT+1 and wait until yast 2
finishes the job and the login propmt is available (this will take some time)
8) login to system and switch to run level 3
9) at this state a made a backup of
/var/log/SaX.log --> SaX.log.autoconfrestart
/etc/X11/xorg.conf --> xorg.conf.autoconfrestart
/var/log/Xorg.0.log --> Xorg.0.log.autoconfrestart
10) start sax2 with the option '-m0=vesa' (screen mode 1024x768, 16bit)
11) switch run level 3 to run level 5
12) kde starts up
13) switch run level 5 to run level 3 again
14) at this state i made a backup of
/var/log/SaX.log --> SaX.log.vesa
/etc/X11/xorg.conf --> xorg.vesa
/var/log/Xorg.0.log --> Xorg.0.log.vesa
I hope these log files can provide some useful information.
